When it comes to our beauty routines, after all of these years we all have a routine down to a fine art. But how many of your beauty habits are doing more harm than good? These common beauty behaviours are hiding slightly disgusting secrets.
1. Using dirty make-up brushes
It should come as no surprise that as brushes touch both make-up and our face that are mganets for dirt and oil. This grime is the transferred to your sking when brushes comes into contact with you face which in turn can lead do infections and breakouts as it will clog your pores. Rule of thumb? Make sure you clean your make-up tools at least once a month.
2. Not cleaning your hairbrush
Given that most of us lose over 100 - many of which build up on your hair brush - while it won't cause anything nasty to occur, if you let hair collect on your brush it could quickly turn your freshly washed hair oily.
3. Removing nose hiar
You're not alone if you freak out at the sight of nose hairs - but whatever you do, do not pluck. Yes, we agree it seems like the natural solution, given that nose hairs serve the purpose of trapping germs, if removed you are opening yourself up to more easily contracting say getting a cold. Instead of attacking these hair with tweezers opt to trim with some scissors - just be sure to sanitise them first.
4. Trying products at beauty coutners
Yes it can be much fun and also a great way to experiment before you commit to a new shade of lipstick but just be cautious! Studies show that products for testing at make-up counters have been found to contain staph, strep, and even E. coli. Always ask first if their a samples available or if the attendant can kindly sanitise the products and provide you with a fresh, disposable applicator.
