How to make your own bath products
While most large pharmacies and department stores sell a selection of bath products, there’s something a little bit more special about making your own. Not only do DIY bath products make a fantastic addition to your own bathroom, they’re also a lovely and thoughtful gift for friends and family. Another bonus is that you can control all of the ingredients meaning no nasties and all your favourite scents.
Homemade lavender bath salts: Soak your cares away with these homemade salts.
You will need:
- 2 cups Epsom salts
- ½ cup baking soda
- 30 drops lavender essential oil
How to:
1. Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.
Homemade bath scrub: Quick, easy and deliciously coco-nutty, this homemade scrub makes the perfect “end of the day” treat.
You will need:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup table salt
- ½ cup melted coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
How to:
1. Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.
Homemade bath milk: Beautifully soothing and moisturising, bath milk is perfect for sensitive skin types who react to other bath products.
You will need:
- 1 ½ cups powdered milk (any variety – dairy or non dairy)
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- 5 drops essential oil (lavender, rose, grapefruit, vanilla all work well)
How to:
1. Mix the powdered milk and Epsom salts together. Add essential oils and mix well to combine. Store in an airtight container.
Homemade bubble bath: Perfect for the grandkids! Homemade bubble bath is lots of fun and free from nasties.
You will need:
- 1 cup unscented, clear liquid castile soap
- ⅔ cup glycerin
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 3 to 4 drops essential oil
How to:
- Mix the soap, glycerin, water and oils together and pour into a clean jar with a tight fitting lid.
