Princess Mary dazzles in crimson dress

Princess Mary has dressed up for a glamorous night out without the kids to celebrate the 175th anniversary of one of Denmark’s most popular tourist attractions, Tivoli Gardens.

The 46-year-old Crown Princess looked elegant in a crimson evening gown decorated with mirrored sequins and a blush-pink silk wrap.

The Australian-born Danish royal attended the event with Queen Margrethe’s sister, Princess Benedikte, who wore a green and blue floor-length dress.

Mary’s husband, Prince Frederik, was absent from the event as well as their four children, Prince Christian, 12, Princess Isabella, 11, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, seven.

Tivoli Gardens was created by Georg Carstensen and inspired Danish writer Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale, The Nightingale.

The amusement park was visited by Walt Disney before he opened Disneyland in 1955, and it is believed he was so captivated by the atmosphere of the attraction, that he sought to recreate it in his own park.

Mary and her family frequently visit the amusement park, with the royal children attending an event there last year while their parents were away in Japan.

Recently, the family enjoyed a sailing trip around Denmark, documenting their holiday photos on Instagram.
