There she is! Kate Middleton’s return to the public eye

Kate Middleton has stepped out for her first official engagement in well over two months.

The Duchess of Cambridge visited an airbase where she met with members of the RAF and volunteers who helped thousands of people flee Afghanistan last month.

This is the first time she has been spotted in public or online since the 11th
of July, when she went to Wimbledon and attended the Euro 2020 soccer final with husband Prince William and son Prince George.

Kate’s 66-day absence from the public eye led to fans of the Royal Family to believe she may be expecting another baby. However, it is now known that the 39-year-old was simply enjoying an extended summer holiday with her family, including a trip to France for her younger brother’s wedding.

The duchess arrived at RAF Brize Norton airbase in Oxfordshire, about 120km north of London, by helicopter on Wednesday.

She was then taken from the tarmac to a hangar where she chatted with volunteers and service personnel, thanking them for their efforts.

During the engagement, she even toured one of the giant C17 Globemaster transporter planes that helped to evacuate thousands of people from Kabul during the Taliban takeover.

While we’re all used to seeing Kate in the spotlight, this recent break was not the first time she had disappeared for a lengthy period, her longest gap between public appearances being 41 days when she and William went on to holiday in Wales last year.
