Top pollies step out in style for Midwinter Ball
Aussie parliamentarians stepped out in style as they attended the 20th annual Midwinter Charity Ball on Wednesday.
Federal politicians, journalists and executives wined and dined at Parliament House in what was billed as “the premier social event on the political calendar”.
As part of the event’s charity auction, politicians donated their time to raise money for various organisations such as LifeCircle, St Vincent de Paul, Guide Dogs Australia, Bully Zero and Good360.
The most popular item was a beer with Prime Minister Scott Morrison at either The Lodge in Canberra or Sydney’s Kirribilli House. A punter won the bid for $10,200.
Another unnamed bidder won a tennis match with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg for $5,000, while a Royal Australian Air Force hot air balloon trip over Canberra with Defence Minister Linda Reynolds went for $3,500.
Labor leaders Anthony Albanese and Richard Marles will be having a three-course meal and wine with another punter, who paid $5,000.
A total of $43,750 was raised on the night.
