Why the Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit has sparked concern
The Duchess of Cambridge rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her fashion choices, but her latest outfit has hit the wrong note, leaving many people concerned for her wellbeing.
Stepping out in London on Wednesday night local time for an event at the National Portrait Gallery, onlookers were stunned to see the pregnant Kate – who is due to give birth to her royal baby with Prince William in weeks – looking very cold and not dressed adequately during one of the most severe snow storms in UK history.

The Duchess wore an elegant long-sleeved Orla Kiely dress that fell just below the knees, presumably a pair of stockings (as per royal protocol) and nude pointed-toe heels, a stark contrast to the photographers snapping photos while rugged up in warm jackets, gloves and scarves to protect themselves from the sub-zero temperatures.
“Beautiful pics of Catherine but where is her coat on a snowy night in winter?” asked one Twitter user, to which another replied, “I agree but not only that, why oh why high heel shoes? She could so easily have slipped with it being snowy and icy very dangerous in these conditions.”
