"Bloody grinch”: Outrage over new fee to see Santa
Department store giant David Jones have been slammed as the “bloody grinch” only a month away from Christmas.
The super-store in Adelaide has sparked outrage amongst the locals over Santa’s visit to the iconic Magic Cave inside its Central Plaza store, and for the first time in 126 years, the Magic Cave are charging families to see the man in red.
Booking arrangements apply and anyone without a reservation will be turned away, whether or not they’re on Santa's nice list.
While pre-pandemic Santa was free, patrons are now being asked to book and pre-pay for a photo package. Two 4x6 images will cost parents $24.95 while Santa’s Gift Pack of photos comes in at $49.95.
The move has of course sparked fury with many calling it a “rip off”.
“[That is] just plain mean,” one person wrote. “Pure greedy,” said another. “Boycott David Jones and go to your suburban Santas.”
“Tis the season to make money any way you can,” one person commented.
