How Australia influenced the name of Serena's daughter

Tennis star Serena Williams surprised the world after revealing that she was pregnant when she claimed her 23rd grand slam title at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Serena battled her sister, Venus, taking the win 6-4 6-4 at Rod Laver Arena.

After seven wins at the Australian Open, it is safe to assume that Serena has a special relationship with our country but now she has taken it a step further.

The 36-year-old revealed on social media that the initials of her daughter was a symbol of their time spent together while she was competing in Australia in January.

“Fun fact my daughters initials are AO as in the Aussie Open she won with me,” Serena tweeted.

According to Serena's friend Caroline Wozniacki, she is already focusing on making a strong comeback to tennis.

Caroline who was speaking at the WTA Wuhan Open Monday said, " Serena, I think she can be focused on both (the baby and tennis)."

“I think she’s going to do a strong comeback but I think at the same time she’s enjoying being a mum as well and getting that whole experience. I think it’s very special.”

Caroline revealed that Serena had been sending her photos of her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian.

"She’s so cute and I’m looking forward to meeting her,” Caroline said.

Serena has said that she wants to return to competitive tennis in January to defend her Australian Open title.

Serena gave birth to her daughter on September 1.
