Jacinda Ardern’s special celebration for daughter’s second birthday

Jacinda Ardern has marked her daughter’s second birthday with a special homemade birthday cake.

The New Zealand Prime Minister celebrated the milestone occasion with her daughter, Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford, at their family’s Wellington home on Sunday.

Taking to Instagram, the 39-year-old shared a picture of the child’s piano-themed birthday cake, which was based on a recipe from the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Book.

“Cake making lesson number two – don’t focus on making the cake look in proportion with little to no attention on structural integrity...” she wrote in the caption.

“There is a jar of lentils propping this thing up.

“Happy Birthday Neve! Thanks for ignoring all of the imperfections in life and just being a joy.”

This was Ardern’s second time baking a cake for her daughter’s special day. Last year, the mother-of-one shared her attempt at making a rabbit-shaped cake for Neve’s first birthday.

Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford welcomed their first child on June 21, 2018 in Auckland. The pair became engaged over Easter in 2019.
