Owner of killed dog “given fake details” while family mourns loss
A heartbroken girl is begging for the man whose dog killed her beloved pet to come forward with the right details as the family mourn their loss of their dog.
Laura, 12, was walking with her mother along the coast of North Reef in Perth and encountered a man complaining about not being able to walk his two dogs on the beach.
As Laura and her mother attempted to pass the man, one of the animals attacked Laura's seven-year-old dog Indy.
Indy was bitten and the other animal refused to let go, with Laura trying to save her beloved family pet.
She said she was also attacked.
"It started hurting and I looked down, and it all started bleeding on my shoes," Laura said.
The owner of the attacking dog gave his name and number to a witness of the incident and was last seen leaving a carpark near the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club.
However, the details that the man gave to the witness were fake and the family have been unable to track the man down.
They are now pleading for the man to come forward.
The attacking dog is described as a large mastiff or tosa, with its owner believed to be aged in his 60s.
He was wearing long shorts and a polo shirt, and driving a small white sedan.
