7 signs your cat loves you
A common question posed to cat owners is “how do you know your cat loves you?” Well, despite their reputation for being cold and aloof, cats do in fact love their owners. Here are just seven signs your feline friend loves you right back.
1. They pepper you with love bites
When your cat nibbles on you, it’s a sign of affection not aggression. Just think of kittens play fighting with each other! These tiny love bites are very different to a bite that could cause bodily harm, which your cat is quite capable of demonstrating if it wanted too.
2. It flashes its tummy to you
You just don’t show your tummy to anyone! If your cat rolls over to expose its vulnerable but fuzzy belly area, they are telling you they are so comfortable with you, they will let their guard down (and lure you into some tummy pats).
3. Your feline friends loves head-butting you
If your furry friend loves giving you little head-buts all the time, it’s trying to spread its facial pheromones on to you. While some people interpret this gesture as a cat’s way of “owning” you, we’d like to think they are simply initiating you into their family clan.
4. Your cat just loves following you around
Unsurprisingly, cats follow us around because they want to be close to us.
5. They’re a purr master
A purr is usually, but not always, a sign of deep contentment. If it’s snuggled up to you on the couch and purring louder than an engine, then you can bet your four-legged friend is very satisfied and happy.
6. Your cat loves to groom you
Cats only engage in mutual grooming with felines (and humans) they trust and adore. While their sandpaper tongue might not feel great, it is a sign that they not only love you but that you’re part of their family group.
7. Your cat brings you “presents”
Cats are natural hunters so if they’re continually presenting you with dead rodents or such, they’re trying to show you what they can offer you. It’s a sign of affection, even if it’s a slightly squeamish one.
