Turia Pitt reveals how she’s preparing for childbirth

Turia Pitt is hanging up her working boots as she prepares to meet her baby boy in eight short weeks.

As an all-round adventure woman, Turia admits it’s hard for her to slow down and initially struggled to believe she was “carrying a little person”.

“I remember being in a little bit of denial when I first found out I was pregnant,” she says.

“I’m still exercising, it’s just a different type of exercise. I’m not doing 42km runs, just long gentle walks on the beach and that sort of stuff.”

Speaking at an event for Avene sunscreen, Turia who is their newest product ambassador, confirmed this was her last week of work commitments before she takes time off to prepare for being a first-time mum. With a due date in early December, she won’t return to work until March next year.

The 30-year-old says that despite watching online videos about childbirth that left her “traumatised”, she’s ready for the pain.

“I’m not nervous, I’m ready for it,” she told news.com.au.

“I’m really excited about giving birth. I’ve had a lot of pain through my experiences, and its pain which doesn’t have a meaning for it.

“But the day of the birth, yes it will be hard and intense but at the end of the day I’ll get a baby from the pain — and how cool is that.”

She added that she was “not watching any more videos”.

“No one likes pain, when you hurt yourself it hurts. But I’m not scared of this [childbirth] because I know it’s inevitable and there’s a really good reward at the end of it,” she mused.

“So I’m not anxious about the day, I’m genuinely looking forward to it ... and Michael is pumped.”

Turia and her fiancé Michael Hoskin revealed they were expecting their first child in July.
