Turia Pitt reveals the difficult truth about being a new mum

The country rejoiced when Turia Pitt and her fiancé Michael Hoskin announced the arrival of their first child, a baby boy named Hakavai. But like all new parents, Turia is finding motherhood even harder than she imagined.

Opening up in a candid Instagram post, the author, motivational speaker and Aussie legend got real about the struggles she’s facing.

“Parenting is hard,” the burns survivor wrote. “I’ve got a baby that sleeps, a supportive partner, parents and in-laws on speed dial, heaps of mates who’ve had babies and I’m still finding it really challenging and exhausting. To all the parents out there, you’re all legends, and you’re all doing a good job!”

Just days after Hakavai’s birth, the 30-year-old also shared with her followers the difficulties she was experiencing with breastfeeding.

“I actually found breastfeeding really hard at the beginning,” Turia admitted. “But then I realised it was the first time I’d ever breastfed and it was Hakavai’s first time too, and the first time you try anything new you’re not going to be an expert at it! We’re not experts (yet) but we’re definitely getting the hang of it.”
