"We want Sam home": Distraught husband speaks out

Samantha Murphy's distraught husband has issued a desperate plea to the community for knowledge about his wife's whereabouts, two weeks after she went missing.

The 51-year-old mother from Ballarat took off for her daily run in the early hours of the morning of February 4th, and was never seen again.

With Ms Murphy's disappearance now being labelled as "suspicious" by police investigators, Mick Murphy has shared an emotional message for the community to come forward with information about his wife.

“We want Sam home please,” he told 7News

Mr Murphy told the outlet his family are “doing the best we can under the circumstances”.

He has made several pleas to the public for anyone to come forward if they had information about the mother-of-three’s disappearance.

“People just don’t vanish into thin air. Someone’s got to know something,” he told reporters on Thursday.

On Wednesday, police officially labelled Samantha's disappearance as "suspicious", as their investigation continues.

“Call it unusual, call it suspicious. But it certainly is of significant concern to us,” Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said on Wednesday.

He went on to say that there were still no new leads in the investigation, headed by the Missing Persons Squad.

“It’s certainly unusual when we haven’t been able to locate any trace of her or any other evidence within that period of time,” he said.

“It’s suspicious, whether that means there’s foul play involved or not, I don’t know, but obviously detectives are investigating a matter where a woman’s been missing for a significant period of time.”
