Flourless chocolate cake
It doesn’t take a lot of time, money, ingredients or effort to make this tasty, flourless chocolate cake that everyone in the family will be able to enjoy.
Serves: 8
Ingredients:
- 200g butter, chopped
- 250g dark chocolate, chopped
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 cup caster sugar
Method:
- To begin, preheat your oven to 160°C and prepare a 6cm deep, 22cm round cake pan, by greasing and lining the base and sides with baking paper.
- Place butter and chocolate in heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water (low heat) and stir until smooth. It’s important to make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water.
- Beat egg yolks and 1/2 cup of sugar with an electric mixer until thick and creamy.
- Beat eggwhites in separate bowl until soft peaks form, gradually beating in the rest of the remaining sugar until it has dissolved into the mixture.
- Add chocolate mixture to egg yolk bowl and mix to combine.
- Add about a quarter of the eggwhite mixture and mix well.
- Fold in remaining eggwhite mixture, then pour into the pan.
- Bake for around about 50 minutes, cool then serve.
