Homemade macaroni and cheese
Sometimes all you need is a good helping of warm, gooey macaroni and cheese and this recipe is sure to hit the spot.
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
- 300g of macaroni
- ¼ cup of butter + two tablespoons
- 3 tablespoons of flour
- 2 cups of milk
- 225g of cream cheese
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- Salt to taste
- A few dashes of hot sauce
- 2 cups of shredded tasty cheese
- 1 cup of dried bread crumbs
Method:
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- In a pot of salted, boiling water, cook macaroni until cooked al dente.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt quarter cup of butter.
- Stir in flour and cook for one minute. Add milk, cream cheese, pepper, and salt. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat.
- Add macaroni and tasty cheese to saucepan and mix together.
- Pour into a casserole dish.
- In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs and two tablespoons of butter. Spread across the macaroni.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. During the last few minutes, set oven to broil for a crispier top.
