Healthy homemade tomato sauce
From grandkids to grandparents, tomato sauce is definitely a favourite come dinnertime. Why not make your own healthy version? It’s super simple.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 medium brown onions, roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 12 cups fresh or tinned tomatoes, halved
- 2 red capsicum, roughly chopped
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 celery stalk, roughly chopped
- ½ cup raw or brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, if desired
- 1 tablespoon paprika, if desired
- 6 cloves, if desired
- 1 cinnamon stick, if desired
- 1 ½ cups red or white wine vinegar
