Beautiful tiny houses

If you haven’t already heard, “tiny homes” are the housing trend that’s taking over the world. All around the globe, people are downsizing their lives to fit inside more modest dwellings that usually make up in style what they lack in space. By using less resources, occupying a much smaller footprint, and forcing people to simplify their lives, tiny houses are become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to real estate. We’ve trawled the internet for 5 of our very favourite tiny houses.

Tiny Tack House – built by couple Chris and Melissa, this teeny home was built on a 7 by 20 foot trailer frame. With a fully functional kitchen, bathroom (including shower), roomy living space and a queen sized bed in the loft, the Tiny Tack House has everything you could ask for. And the large windows (plus skylight) make the space feel even larger than it is.

Keret House – this is the world’s narrowest house (that we know of). Designed by Jakub Szczesny, Keret House measured 3.02 feet at its narrowest point, and 4.99 feet at its widest. But the compact size doesn’t limit amenities, with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and work desk all fitting in.

New York Cabin in the Woods – fashion designer Scott Newkirk wanted his very own cosy retreat for the summer months, which led to this 14 by 14 foot cabin. Built entirely of reclaimed wood, this tiny cabin is completely off the grid, without even electricity or running water. With a fashion designer owner, the house is impeccably styled, and we wouldn’t mind giving up running water for a night or two in this exquisite abode.

Tumbleweed Tiny House – the company (Tumbleweed) behind this particular tiny house can help you customise your very own tiny house design. This gorgeous residence comes complete with a desk, kitchen, fireplace, bath, upstairs loft, and can be fitted with an air-conditioner for those more extreme temperatures.

Nomad Micro Home – for roughly US $30,000, this home can be shipped anywhere on the planet ready for you to assemble (it’s like the IKEA of houses). Measuring 10 by 10 feet, the two-storey space includes a downstairs living room, bathroom and kitchen, as well as a bedroom upstairs. It’s also got solar panels, a rain collection system, and large windows.
