New South Wales:
1. Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah
This garden covers 28 hectares of land and gives you spectacular views of the Blue Mountains.
2. Swain Gardens, Killara
This garden reflects an English country aesthetic. Pack a lunch and enjoy the beautiful flowers under a gazebo or bring some meat and use the BBQ facilities.
Queensland:
3. Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha
Brisbane Botanic Gardens opened in 1978 and cover 56 hectares of land. There are many self-guided and guided walks to choose from as well as various gardens such as the Bonsai house, Japanese Garden and the Tropical Display Dome.
4. Emerald Botanic Gardens, Emerald
The Emerald Gardens covers an area of 42 hectares and is located on the banks of the Nogoa River. The gardens were established in 1987 and it is a home to 12 different themed plant communities.
Victoria:
5. National Rhododendron Gardens, Olinda
One of the jewels of the Dandenong Ranges, theNational Rhododendron Gardens is a must visit for the beauty of seeing 15,000 rhododendrons, 12,000 azaleas, 3,000 camellias and 250,000 daffodils. These gardens are free to visit and you also have the option to hop on a paid tour bus that will take you all over the gardens.
6. Alowyn Gardens, Yarra Glen
Some highlights of these gardens include a rose covered archway, a classical fountain and a silver birch forest.
South Australia:
7. Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Adelaide
Adelaide Botanic Gardens has various walking trails including a nature and lakeside trail. The gardens also offer free guided tours every Thursday morning. Some visitor highlights of the gardens include the International Rose Garden, the Little Sprouts Kitchen Gardena and the Economic Garden.
Northern Territory:
8. George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, Darwin
Located two hours north of Darwin city, these gardens cover 42 hectares of land filled with north Australian and tropical plants. The gardens have been around for 130 years old, surviving Cyclone Tracy and WWII.
Western Australia:
9. Kings Park and Botanic Garden, Perth
Kings Park covers 400 hectares and offers visitors bushwalks, gardens and parklands. Two thirds of Kings Park are protected as bushland. The park offers stunning views of the Swan and Canning Rivers and on the east, you can see the Darling Ranges.
Tasmania:
10. Wychwood Garden and Nursery, Mole Creek
The garden and nursery covers 2.5 acres of land and is located near Mole Creek in northern Tasmania. The gardens features perennials, old roses, a fruit and vegetable garden, an apple orchard and water features.
