4 great ways you should use vodka for around the house
Aside from being an ingredient in some truly delicious cocktails, vodka is incredibly handy around the house. Here are some of our favourite alternative uses for this versatile spirit.
Revive sad-looking flowers
When you’re changing the water for a vase of fresh flowers, add a single drop of vodka and a teaspoon of sugar to help revive them and extend their life a little longer.
Clean your glasses
If you can’t find a way to get your glasses clean without leaving streaks and fingerprints, try using vodka. Dip a cloth into a little vodka and you should have a streak-free finish. And as a bonus, the vodka should kill any germs that are lingering.
Freshen musty clothes
If you pull something out of the cupboard and find that it’s got an unpleasant aroma about it – perhaps it’s just musty from a bit of dampness – just put some vodka in an ordinary spray bottle and spritz a little onto the fabric. Leave it to hang in a well-ventilated area and it should come up good as new without needing to be washed or dry-cleaned.
Add shine to your fixtures
To get your glass, chrome, or porcelain fixtures looking like new, dip a soft, clean cloth in a little vodka and witness the sparkle.
