Homemade drain cleaner
If you’ve been away, or you’ve got a bathroom you don’t use too often, musty smelling drains can be an issue. But there’s a simple way to freshen them up, and it doesn’t involve expensive products or too much of your time.
You will need: baking soda, salt, white vinegar
Method:
- In a mixing bowl, mix together a quarter of a cup of salt with half a cup of baking soda.
- Pour the mixture down the drain and then tip a full cup of vinegar on top. The vinegar will cause the baking soda to froth up, acting as an internal broom for the drain.
- After 20 minutes, tip a just-boiled kettle of water down the drain for a final rinse.
Why not try making this a habit every couple of months to keep drains free flowing throughout your home?
