How to get your plastic containers looking (and smelling) like new
An essential item in any kitchen, while plastic containers come in handy for organisation and food storage, they can be hard to clean and reatin nasty odours. Until now, that is. We have some tried-and-tested solutions.
Goodbye stains
Want to get rid of stains on plastic containers? You'll need this little recipe:
- To one cup of warm water, add a tablespoon of liquid chlorine bleach
- Soak the container for 30 minutes.
- Wash the container with hot, soapy water and dry.
You’ll find that curries, thick sauces (like tomato-based recipes), and stews are the culprits behind most hard-to-clean stains. To stop stains appearing, just try spraying a container with cooking oil spray before popping your leftovers in.
Smells be gone
The only smells you want in the kitchen are ones coming from something cooking in the oven. Smelly containers are a no-no! To deodorise container, follow these steps:
- In a litre of warm water, dissolve four tablespoons of baking soda.
- Soak your container for 30 minutes.
