The best way to clean your shower curtain
There’s no need to throw out your shower curtain when you see it has become mouldy or smelly.
Fabric shower curtains (like cotton or polyester) will require you to simply follow the care instructions on the label. But for vinyl or plastic ones, here’s what to do:
Pop the curtain into the washing machine with some strong liquid detergent, and a couple of towels. These will help agitate the water, which in turn will assist in cleaning the shower curtain more effectively. Hang the curtain to dry in the sun ideally, or place in a dryer on the lowest heat setting.
To reduce the frequency of cleaning try leaving windows open or fans on whilst showering, and always spread the curtain open when you’re finished so that it can dry naturally.
