Prince Charles celebrates first Father's Day without Prince Philip

Celebrating Father's Day in the UK, Prince Charles has paid tribute to his sons and his dad, the late Prince Philip, and given a shout-out to "all papas everywhere".

Marking the occasion, which is celebrated in June in the UK and US, Clarence House released photos of the future king with a message for people "missing their dads today".

"We are thinking of you and wishing you a special Father's Day," it said.

This was the first Father's Day Prince Charles spent without his dad, Prince Philip, who passed away in April at the age of 99.

An image released by Clarence House shows the young Prince Charles with Philip in a black-and-white portrait.

Another showed him with his own sons, William and Harry, at a polo match.

The photos were released just a week before Prince Harry visits the UK to mark what would have been the 60th birthday of his mother, Princess Diana.

The royal family's official account also shared an image of the Queen — then Princess Elizabeth — with her father, King George VI, Prince Philip, and a young Prince Charles playing on a statue at her Balmoral Estate.
