Sunrise star opens up on "cringe" marriage proposal
Weekend Sunrise co-host Matt Doran has revealed how his perfect proposal plans quickly turned into a disaster.
Over the weekend, the Channel 7 star popped the question to his girlfriend of one year, Kendall Bora.
And while it may look like it was a picture-perfect proposal by the photo on his Instagram, the 37-year-old revealed it was anything but.
He said "half an island was involved" in the big moment, right before COVID-19 caused chaos and borders began shutting down throughout the country, which ended up foiling the plan two days out.
He then said his Plan B when down the drain due to a "combo of leeches, blizzards, car crashes and a 'gourmet' picnic that was, in fact, canned Spam".
But he was certain that Plan C was "foolproof".
“A tech crisis created unspeakable cringe,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Despite it all, she still said yes, and I’m now the luckiest man in the cosmos,” Doran added of his 30-year-old fiancee.
Discussing the disastrous attempts on Sunrise today, Doran said he was “trying to go overboard”.
“I think some blokes think you have to do that, but then you end up being cringe,” he said.
“I’ve been told I’ll have nothing to do with the wedding plans because I couldn’t even organise the proposal.”
The news comes after Sunrise host, Samantha Armytage tied the knot on New Year's Eve.
