Tony Abbott’s daughter announces her surprise engagement
Former PM Tony Abbott’s daughter Frances has made it clear she doesn’t share her father’s political opinions, and with a surprise announcement yesterday, the 26-year-old proved even further just how different she is from her controversial dad.
Taking to Instagram, the fitness fanatic and marriage equality advocate revealed she is engaged to 34-year-old former Olympian rower turned weightlifter, Sam Loch.
“Two weeks was all it took to know that forever with you was a mighty fine idea,” she captioned the cute snap with the hashtags #crazyinlove, #whywait and #letsdothis.
The news has stunned followers of the fitness blogger, who described herself as “so single" in an interview published in the current issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia.
“I always describe myself as ‘so single’, because that’s how single I am,” she said. “Like, very, very single. But I also think it’s probably the best time to compete [in bodybuilding], because I don’t have a guy saying, ‘Let’s go get some dinner!’”
Among the shocked commenters on Frances' post was the journalist who conducted the interview, Rachelle Unreich.
“Whoa!” she wrote. “Things change quickly! (When I interviewed you not very long ago for Harper’s, you said you were sooooo single!) Congrats! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.”
Good luck to the happy couple!
