95-year-old grandma honoured to be bridesmaid for her granddaughter
When New Yorker Jamie Jacobs got engaged she had trouble narrowing down her list of potential bridesmaids. She solved all her problems by enlisting the best person for the job: her grandmother, Dorothy Shapiro.
“I had so many friends, I couldn’t narrow it down,” Jamie said. “I couldn’t have 15 bridesmaids, but my grandmother is on another level.”
In a New York Times video, the 95-year-old recounts her experience as her granddaughter’s matron of honour.
"That was one of the biggest honour that a grandmother could have -- that she chose me, an old lady!" she exclaimed.
“First of all, I’m not that old-fashioned. I understand the younger generation. You know what, I don’t butt in to their lives.”
“I remember I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to walk down the aisle, but I did it like a real trooper – and I was able to dance!”
