Prime Minister Scott Morrison has responded to being banned from entering Queensland under Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s new border rules.

The state's coronavirus rules say that the Prime Minister is allowed to enter for work purposes, but has to undergo 14 days of mandatory hotel quarantine first.

‘Elected representatives can enter Queensland from a declared COVID-19 hotspot, such as the ACT, to return to their electorate or to perform official duties,” A Queensland Health spokesman told news.com.au.

‘They must enter via air and will be required to quarantine for 14 days from the date of arrival as per global quarantine requirements.’

Morrison appeared on Sunrise to explain how he felt about the rules.

“I don’t think there should be double standards about these things... I think the same rules should apply,” he told Kochie on Thursday.

He said that "he should be subject to the same rules as everyone else", but said he doesn't plan on visiting the state anytime soon.

“We’ve got parliament sitting through all that period and we’re doing the budget as well, so whether I was ever going to get to Queensland anyway is a secondary issue.”
