Carrie Bickmore quietly sells family home ahead of big move

Carrie Bickmore has quietly sold her Melbourne home ahead of a temporary stay in the UK with her family.

The Project co-host shocked fans on Tuesday when she announced she would be taking some time away from the show to embark on a “family adventure” in England which the family “really wants to do” before her oldest son starts his final years at school.

However, she didn’t mention the recent sale of the family’s five-bedroom house in Ivanhoe in north-east Melbourne, which sold for an undisclosed price at auction on March 3.

The home boasts 725-square-metres of living space, including three bathrooms, a private gym on the lower level, and a bespoke kitchen that spills into an open-plan living room and dining area with a gas log fire.

Outside, the backyard includes a heated swimming pool and spa, as well as a pool house that can be used as an entertainment area or studio.

Bickmore confirmed she and the family would be departing in April and staying for a school term in a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday.

“And we’re off,” she began the post, which was accompanied by a cute beachy snap of the family.

“Chris and I and the kids are finally doing something we have dreamed of for a while now … and in April we are heading overseas for a family adventure for a few months.

“One of the unexpected silver linings to come out of living through Melbourne’s lockdowns was the extended family time and we feel like this is our last chance to do something like this together before Ollie hits the pointy end of his schooling and no longer wants to hang out with us.

Having been a part of The Project since it began in 2009, Bickmore assured fans she would be returning to the desk in a few months and that she would still be appearing on the Carrie and Tommy radio show.

However, it’s unclear where they’ll be heading when they return to Australia.

One option could be their $3 million Bryon Bay property, which they’re currently renting out at a hefty $2,200 a week.

Whether they head to Byron Bay or find a new family home in Melbourne, Bickmore told her co-hosts it was an adventure the whole family had been wanting to do for a while, who shared their excitement for her.
