Cruise myths you should stop believing

You may be unsure if cruising is for you, even if you have considered sailing away on the high seas.

Given that there are numerous clichés painted on cruising and misinformation thrown out there, it’s not surprising if you were to be a little nervous at the thought of jumping on a large vessel for a number of days.

Here are a few common myths that might have made you nervous to book your first cruise.

1. You don’t have to eat dinner every night with strangers

While it is encouraged to put yourself out there on a cruise and meet new people, there is no pressure from staff to stay in your assigned seating. Enforced seating on cruise ships is no longer an obligation, so if you’re feeling uncomfortable with your dining partners or the conversation is a little too boring for your taste – talk to your waiter to be moved.

2. Cruising can be a culturally immersive experience

Look for cruise itineraries offering late departures or overnights in ports. Options like these ones while travelling gives passengers the opportunity to have authentic cultural experiences where you feel like a traveller rather than a tourist.

Many ships offer culturally enriching experiences and a chance to see your port for what it really is apart from the touristy glamour.

3. Cruises can be as expensive or as budget-friendly as you like

With the increasing popularity of travelling by sea, there are many cruise experiences for every price range. Whether you’re searching for a 10-day island getaway for the family or a romantic seascape with the most opulent ports and experiences – cruising has it all.
