Inside Elvis Presley’s cruise to Hawaii
Elvis Presley had a deep love for Hawaii and during his lifetime he visited the islands multiple times.
Whether it was to perform his hit songs, film a movie or just to holiday, the Hawaiian Islands were no stranger to the King of Rock n’ Roll.
On November 5, 1997, Elvis sailed to Hawaii from Los Angeles on the SS Matsonia.
The voyage took four days and while he was at sea, his new film Jailhouse Rock opened in theatres.
When Elvis arrived in Honolulu he was welcomed by thousands of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the star and when he left, they bid him “Aloha” as he sailed away.
Elvis was very popular on cruise ships not just because of his worldwide fame but also because he was easy going and gladly took pictures with the many passengers.
