World’s biggest cruise ship arrives in Melbourne

Cruise liner the Golden Princess has docked in Melbourne this on friday, making it the biggest ship to ever dock in Port Phillip Bay.

The vessel, weighing an astounding 108,000 tonnes and able to carry 2600 passengers, arrived at Station Pier during the Spring Racing Carnival, causing massive delays. Sydney passenger, Denise reported that a “couple hundred” people were delayed waiting for taxis.

Still, the liner boasts some impressive features. “More than half her staterooms have private balconies, while she also offers a beautiful spa, four swimming pools and 10 restaurants and cafes, so we think she’ll be very popular with Victorians,” Vice President of Princess Cruises, Stuart Allison said.
