Shocked kiteboarder accidentally hits humpback whale
A shocked kiteboarder has accidentally collided with a humpback whale off the coast of California.
Incredible footage shows Andrei Grigoriev's close encounter with the huge mammal in the waters off Crissy Field Beach on June 18.
The video starts with the extreme sports enthusiast gliding innocently across the ocean before his board skims right over the back of a rising humpback whale.
The video shows the Californian resident spread his arm in stunned amazement.
"I was going straight out from the beach when something touched my board from below," he explained.
"For another 15 seconds I had a feeling there was something around me, until the whale jumped out of the water right in front of me.
"The scene was completely accidental."
