$79 million in toll rebates yet to be claimed

Toll rebates worth $79 million are yet to be claimed by motorists in New South Wales, with some drivers eligible to receive thousands of dollars in refunds.

Around 350,000 motorists across Sydney can claim back their toll spending according to new state government data, following the introduction of the toll cap scheme earlier this year.

The scheme has reduced the amount motorists have to pay to a maximum of $60 on roads, and to date it has given back $39 million to motorists, largely from Sydney's west.

Government figures show drivers in Auburn receiving the biggest average toll relief of $554, followed by motorists in Lakemba with $513. Motorists in Wiley Park had an average toll rebate of $461, while the average rebate for all NSW drivers is around $254.

There remains $79 million to be claimed by motorists from tolled trips since the beginning of this year.

Drivers who spend more than $60 and less than $400 per week can have their tolls refunded through the scheme.

Toll costs over $400 can be partially refunded.

Motorists can claim up to a maximum of $340 per week for each tag or licence plate.

Claims can be made quarterly for drivers who have linked their e-tag to their Service NSW accounts and motorists have until the end of June 2025 to claim their rebates.
