1. Stroll through Kings Park

One of the biggest city parks in the world, Kings Park provides gorgeous views of the city skyline and the Darling Ranges, and a beautiful vantage point to admire the Swan and Canning Rivers. Admire the pristine gardens showcasing Perth’s botanic beauty.

2. Explore Perth’s museum, gallery and zoo

Western Australian Museum provides a fascinating look at Australia’s west coast, the Art Gallery of Western Australia has an extensive collection of Indigenous art and Perth Zoo is always worth a visit for its dedication to conserving Australian wildlife.

3. Visit Perth’s best beaches

Perth has a range of standout beachside towns. Visit Trigg and North Beaches in Scarborough for beautiful surf and swell. Closer to the city, Cottesloe Beach provides a great spot to explore, swim and watch the sun slowly set on the Indian Ocean. 

4. Meet Quokkas on Rottnest Island

It might only be 19 kilometres from Perth, but this car-free island can feel like a world away. This beautiful island has more than 60 beaches, a range of coral reefs for snorkelling and a rich, compelling history including shipwrecks to dive at!

5. Sail Perth’s beautiful river and coastline

If you have the means there’s arguably no better city in the world to explore by sail. Whether you’re sailing down the Swan River or viewing the coastline from a boat, the home of Australia’s America’s Cup challenge provides idyllic conditions to sail at.

6. Enjoy a Swan Valley winery

Just 25 minutes from the City Centre is Western Australia’s famous Swan Valley, offering 40 vineyards and various cellar doors. Swan Valley is Western Australia’s oldest wine region and provides idyllic surrounds to spend a day (or week).

7. Check out Perth’s shopping scene

Perth has a range of diverse shopping areas, each oozing with a unique style. Head out on the Perth to Fremantle train line, starting in Perth City before heading to Subiaco, Claremont, Cottesloe and Fremantle to really immerse yourself in the experience.

8. Visit the Bell Tower

This 82.5 metres tower houses the 12 bells of St Martin-in-the-fields and is one of the world’s largest musical instruments. With a range of fascinating displays on the history of the bells and bell ringing, the Bell Tower also offers stunning city and river views.

9. Head on over to Fremantle Markets

One of the leading tourist destinations in Western Australia, Fremantle Markets is rich with atmosphere and local arts, crafts and talent. This is the perfect way to pick up a unique souvenir, with over 150 stalls stocking beautiful, unique wares.

10. While you’re there, take a walk through Fremantle Prison

Western Australia’s only World Heritage Listed building, Fremantle Prison provides a fascinating Prison Day tour that allows you to explore a labyrinth of tunnels 20 metres beneath the surface. You can also try a spooky, night time Torchlight Tour!
