Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic team up for ultimate doubles match
Nick Kyrgios has dropped a bombshell announcement that he will be teaming up with Novak Djokovic at the Brisbane International competition in 2025.
Kyrgios made the announcement with a post to his Instagram stories on Monday night, re-sharing a photo of the pair walking onto the court ahead of their 2022 Wimbledon final.
Kyrgios captioned the photo, "Doubles at Brisbane. See y'all there".
The original photo was posted by Kyrgios at the end of 2022, where the Aussie tennis champion teased they were planning to team up, suggesting the move may have been in the works for some time.
Kyrgios has played only one professional match in two years due to a series of injuries, and is set to make his return to the court in just a few weeks.
Many have commented on how "strange" the pairing is, given their long rivalry both on and off the court.
However, in 2022, Kyrgios confirmed that they had mended bridges and were building a friendship.
Ahead of the 2022 Wimbledon final, he said, “We definitely have a bit of a bromance now, which is weird. I think everyone knows there was no love lost for a while there.”
