Prince Harry and Meghan’s exciting news

Kensington Palace has finally confirmed fans’ suspicions, after announcing that Prince Harry and Meghan will indeed be visiting Australia for the Invictus Games in October.

The palace confirmed the news yesterday, revealing that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be completing an official tour across multiple countries, where their time in Australia will coincide with the Invictus Games.

The newlyweds will also be visiting Fiji, the kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand in the Autumn," the palace statement read.

"Their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit the Realms of Australia and New Zealand by the countries' respective governments. The Duke and Duchess will visit the Commonwealth countries of Fiji and Tonga at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

"The tour will fall on the occasion of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018. Further details will be advised in due course."

Prince Harry has a special admiration for Australia after spending his 2003 gap year in the outback and embarking on a month-long secondment with the Australian Defence Force in 2015.

This will be Prince Harry and Meghan’s first official royal tour together as husband and wife.

In April during an appearance at Bath in England, Meghan revealed to an athlete at the Invictus Games team trials that the couple were heading to Australia.

"She told me she had never been to Australia but was going to this year's event and really looking forward to being there with Harry," athlete Michael Mellon revealed to royal reporter Omid Scobie.

In 2014, the prince and former military man launched the sports event for wounded servicemen and women.

The 2018 Invictus Games commence on the 18th of October and will finish on the 29th.
