Believe us, these are worth the tired eyes.

Tsukiji Fish Markets – Tokyo, Japan

Set the alarm early if you want to catch the famed Tuna auctions at Tsukiji Fish Markets. Access is strictly limited on a first-come, first-serve basis and if you’re lucky enough to see the auction reward yourself with a fresh, delicious sushi breakfast.

Machu Picchu’s Sun Gate – Inca Trail, Peru

You’ll have to wake extremely early (it’ll still be dark when you’re getting dressed) and negotiate most of this stage of the trek by torchlight but having your first view of the magical Machu Picchu coincide with the sunrise is well worth the effort.

First Tracks – Aspen, USA

If you’re ever in Aspen you will want to be getting up before everybody else, as the slopes can get quite crowded as the day wears on. The feeling of being one of the first skiers to head down the pristine slopes is definitely an experience to savour.

Balloon Flight – Bagan, Myanmar

Bagan is an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar with over 2200 temples and pagodas dotting the countryside. The best way to see them is floating in serene silence just as the sun is beginning to rise, causing the temples to glow.

Sunrise at Dune 45 – Namibia

Dune 45 is a 170-metre-tall monster sand dune in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. If you’re willing to get up early and get to the dune early you’ll be able to see the sand turn amazing, beautiful colours of red, orange and gold as the sun slowly rises.
