Why Duchess Meghan will never live in the UK again

Duchess Meghan has no intention of returning to Britain to live, a friend said in a report Monday.

As the royal family remains in talks following the Sussexes’ resignation announcement, a friend of the Duchess claimed that she does not want to raise her child in the UK.

“She doesn’t want to raise Archie there, and she doesn’t want to schlep back and forth. She’ll make extended visits, but that’s it,” the friend told the Daily Mail.

The friend also said that Duchess Meghan was “miserable” living in Britain after giving birth to Archie, and that she “wasn’t sleeping well and started having anxiety attacks about her future”.

Last week, the Duchess and her husband Prince Harry announced that they plan to step down from their “senior royal duties”, become more financially independent and continue their philanthropic work while splitting their time between North America and the UK.

According to the friend, the royal couple is now “looking for a permanent residence in Canada. [Meghan] said she wants a country house in Whistler outside of Vancouver and a home in Toronto.”

The friend claimed further, “Meghan says their announcement was not a surprise to the royal family — they knew all along.

“Meghan feels the good she and Harry can create with their own fortune far outweighs any hurt feelings.”

The palace confirmed that Duchess Meghan did not dial into the Sandringham meeting from Canada on Monday. In the ‘Sandringham Summit’, the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry gathered at Her Majesty’s summer home to discuss the Sussexes’ resignation.

“In the end, The Sussexes decided that it wasn’t necessary for The Duchess to join,” Palace sources told multiple UK outlets.

Following the meeting, Buckingham Palace released a statement from the 93-year-old monarch.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family,” the Queen said.
