This is the world’s best rice

Rice is often considered as a supporting cast member in our meals, but in this part of the world the rice is so delicious it’s the star of the plate.

Interestingly though, the world’s most delicious rice isn’t found in Asia.

Instead, Carolina Gold rice, originated in Charleston, South Carolina, is considered by many to be the world’s most delicious rice.

The product was so widely sought-after in North America and Europe during the 18th and 19th Centuries it made the region one of the richest in the United States.

But what sets Carolina Gold rice apart?

Charleston Grill chef Michelle Weaver told BBC Travel, Charleston Grill chef Michelle Weaver, “What I love about Carolina Gold is that it’s the most diverse rice I’ve ever worked with. It can work as sticky rice, in porridge, in risotto, whatever you need.”

Chef Brock of Husk, one of Carolina’s favourite eateries, agrees, “That’s Carolina Gold. It’s the reason we have all this. We have the best cuisine in the world here. It’s why I get out of bed in the morning. It’s why I have my restaurants.”
