Easter weather warning: Put your BBQ plans on hold

We’ve seen a bit of everything weather-wise in 2018 so far, and Mother Nature’s mixed bag is set to continue dishing up surprises over the Easter long weekend, with parts of the country warned to expect unseasonably cold, wet conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast showers and below average temperatures for Easter, with Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Hobart warned to expect the odd downpour.

These conditions are being driven by a cold front sweeping in from the Great Australian Bite, which will cross the south-east part of the country over the weekend.

Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide are expected to face much milder conditions, but that’s only after ex-tropical Cyclone Marcus off the Coast of Western Australian, and ex-tropical Cyclone Nora in the Top End have died down somewhat.

“At the moment the remains of Marcus is bringing showers across the south west of the state but that will ease up pretty quickly once it moves off on Tuesday,” BoM Meteorologist Gianni Colangelo told News.com.au.

So what’s in store for your capital?

Melbourne

Mostly sunny in Victoria, but a cold front will bring temperatures down on Sunday. Expect the possible scattered shower as well.

Hobart

It’s a similar story in Hobart, but there will be the odd sprinkling over Easter.

Adelaide

The weather won’t be super warm in Adelaide, but there’s only a slight chance of rain so if you can brave the cool it’ll be perfect for a backyard beer.

Perth

It’s looking like a pleasant Easter long weekend in WA with temperatures hovering around 30°C.

Darwin

NT’s weather depends largely on ex-tropical Cyclone Nora. Expect high temperatures, with storms and rainfall.

Brisbane

It should be relatively warm in Queensland, if a little chillier on Sunday.

Sydney

Good Friday is going to be nice, but the mercury will drop on Saturday and expect rainfall on Sunday.

Canberra

Similar in Canberra, mostly sunny with the chance of a shower.
