Aussie tourists share their ordeal after Bali boat capsizes

A newly-engaged Melbourne couple have described their horrifying experience after their tour boat capsized in Bali.

Dino and Carolina said they became concerned immediately after boarding the Kebo Iwa Express, which was taking passengers to Sanur, a port near Denpasar on Tuesday.

“The boat was hitting the wave and (it) looked like it was flying,” Carolina said.

“It was awful, awful.”

Passengers then alerted the crew to a leak below deck and put on life jackets as the vessel started to take on water.

28 tourists on board and 6 crew members leapt from the sinking boat with footage posted to social media showing passengers clinging to the side of the vessel.

Another angle appears to show just three passengers in the water hanging on to the fully upturned vessel before one jumps into the water.

“I told (Carolina) to: Swim and swim as fast as possible because the boat could explode’,” Dino said.

The group were rescued by passing boats.

Dino and Carolina, who got engaged on New Year’s Eve, and are now stranded in Bali and desperate to get home after losing their belongings, including their passports, during the ordeal.
