Community heartbreak as man dies in freak McDonald's accident
A man in Mansfield, Ohio has died in a freak accident in a McDonald's drive-thru after becoming trapped between his vehicle and a pole.
The 69-year-old man drove his ute to his local McDonalds at lunchtime when the accident occurred.
Mansfield police detective Rob Skoprits has speculated how the accident may have happened.
The police believe that Gary McQuillen may have dropped some money outside of his vehicle and reached out to get it before getting trapped between the pole and his car.
"That's just preliminary what we're thinking. Until the autopsy is done we won't know the cause of death," Mr Skropits said, according to the Mansfield News Journal.
Former classmates of the victim have shared their condolences on a Facebook page for their school alumni.
“No. Don't want to believe it. So sad,” one woman wrote.
“This is the saddest thing I have heard in a long time. Sympathy to his family,” another said.
