"Extremely serious": 70-year-old pilot's lucky escape
A man has been fortunate enough to walk away from a light plane crash with minor injuries.
The plane crash happened at an airport on the New South Wales Central Coast, the plane fell straight into some trees near the runway of Warnervale Airport at around 11am.
The pilot, a man in his 70s, was treated for a hand injury and taken to hospital. According to NSW Ambulance Inspector Andrew Craig, road crews which included off-duty paramedics were nearby and rushed to the scene.
“When we arrived, the aircraft had crashed into trees, landing on its roof,” he said.
“The pilot has been incredibly lucky to walk away from the crash with minor injuries.
"Our paramedics know that incidents involving aircraft can be extremely serious and it's a relief the man involved today was not badly injured.”
Warnervale Airport is roughly 100km away from Sydney.
