“Wild” and "incredible" weather set to hit: Urgent warning stretching 1000km

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning stretching 1000km as intense wind and rain are predicted to hit parts of the country.

Catastrophic winds of more than 90km/h are set to hit certain areas – stretching from the north of Kempsey in NSW to Eden in the South Coast.

Rob Sharpe, meteorologist for Sky News Weather, has said that most of NSW can expect to be drenched with rain on Tuesday, right around peak hour, making for “tricky” road conditions.

“People will very much notice that change coming through,” he said.

“It’s really going to bring some powerful winds. We’re worried about wild winds, particularly for that Tuesday morning commute for Sydney and Wollongong.”

The chaotic conditions are due to a cold front coming from Tasmania, with Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Tom Delamotte describing the weather as “incredible”.

Other areas which are expected to be affected are Victoria, including the Melbourne CBD, as experts have warned of flash flooding.

Those residing in Victoria can expect to face heavy showers today, with the bureau also issuing a warning for motorists: “The potential for areas of heavy rainfall overnight and Monday morning resulting in reduced visibility and adverse conditions.”

Once the storm passes through Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland should prepare themselves to be hit with the brunt of the storm.

Canberra will freeze through a frosty Thursday morning as they face one of the coldest mornings of the year at -3C.

And despite being cold in Adelaide, as temperatures drop to 14C today and on Tuesday, the state will luckily miss most of the cold front.
