Young girl’s heartbreaking question for Scott Morrison

Young girl’s heartbreaking question for Scott Morrison

The Prime Minister of Australia seemed taken aback after being asked a confronting question by an eight-year-old girl.

Appearing on an episode of the children’s podcast Squiz Kids, Scott Morrison was faced with tough coronavirus-related questions from school students aged between eight and 12.

However, there was one question posed by a young girl named Claudia that seemed to throw the PM off.

“How long until I can hug my granny? I don’t want her to get sick,” Claudia, from Coorparoo in Brisbane’s southeast, asked.

Mr Morrison expressed his own sympathy for the child and went on to explain his own deep connection with his grandmother.

“Oh Claudia, I really feel for you, that must be really hard. I really had a wonderful relationship with my grandmother when I was a kid and I know how hard that must feel for you,” he said.

“You’re not living in the same place and you can’t see her. Hopefully you’re getting to talk to her and you can do that on Skype or something like that.

“I know she’d be loving to hear from you and she’ll want to know how your day’s going every day.”

Mr Morrison told Claudia that he hoped it “wouldn’t be too long” until she could be reunited with her granny, who he said would be “safer in isolation on her own for a while”.

“But you’ve got to keep encouraging her, send her messages and send her texts if you can, because she needs to hear from you as much as you need to hear from her,” he said.
