Exclusive photos of Princess Mary unveiled

In celebration of Crown Princess Mary's 50th birthday, a trove of previously unseen photographs have been released in a new book.
The book, titled Mary HKH, is filled with the Princess's own recounts of the stories behind the photos, many capturing moments of special significance.
The images offer a rare insight into Mary's life, both private and official, including her roles as a mother, princess, global advocate, fashion icon and many more.
One of the earliest photos in the book was taken as Mary was en route to her wedding to Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik in 2004, as the soon-to-be princess sat in a carriage with her father on the way to Copenhagen Cathedral.
"A crown princess faces the challenge of occupying an absolutely central position in a foreign country," Mary says of her role for the new exhibition, 'Mary and the Crown Princesses' at Koldinghus Museum, opening this week.
"You need to learn a new language and a new culture while under close public scrutiny – and you are keenly aware of how much there is to live up to. But you also have great opportunity for shaping your own role."

Mary has adapted to her new role in the monarchy and the global stage with ease, becoming an ambassador for issues others have shied away from.
She has spoken out on loneliness and social isolation, the health and wellbeing of women and girls, bullying, domestic violence, and sustainability in the fashion industry.
Since her marriage to Prince Frederik 18 years ago, the Australian-born princess has become an icon in all areas of her work and now, for her 50th birthday, these special moments have been immortalised in print.
Princess Mary's actual birthday, on February 5th, is expected to be celebrated with her family in private.
