Must-do dog-friendly events

A fun day out includes the whole family – and of course that includes your doggie companion. However, too often there’s the dilemma of “no pets allowed” which means leaving your pooch at home while you go out. Not anymore. Here’s a list of up and coming events for you and your best friend.
Victoria
October 26, Marngrook Oval, Diamond Creek
There will be dog obedience displays, pet competitions, an animal nursery, snake handling display and a chance to meet Council’s rangers and local vets to have all your pet questions answered
November 9, Gisborne Veterinary Clinic, 12 Robertson Street, Gisborne
The Gisborne Veterinary Clinic holds an annual Paws in the Park event to raise much needed funds for animal charities. There will be a wide range of stalls including animal welfare, animal products and information about various animals.
NSW
October 25, Shannon Reserve, Surry Hills
Bringing a community of animals lovers together, the Super Furry Festival will host fun, animal-themed activities to help raise money for animal welfare and pet rescue organisations. Activties include a pooch smooch-kissing booth, animal face painting, a kitty cuddle tent plus a photo-booth- where you and your pooch can dress up and keep a photographic souvenir!

November 2, Blacktown Showground, Richmond Road, Blacktown
An exciting day of interactive activities, demonstrations, exhibitions and animals galore! There will be free vet checks, live pet caricature and competitions for ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Best Trick.’ This event is an initiative of Blacktown City Animal Holding Facility which provides somewhere safe for lost animals to be kept whilst trying to reunite them with their family or re-homing them.
November 7 to 9, Royal Hall of Industries and Horden Pavilion, Moore Park
Celebrating the relationship between man and his best friend, the Dog Lovers Show is the ultimate event for dog lovers. It will feature over 500 dogs, 200 exhibitors and an uncountable number of canine lovers.

October 26, Rushton Park, Kelmscott
Treat your dog to a dog’s day out at Rushton Park. There will be dog trainings groups and agility courses as well as animal rescue groups offering tips and advice. Enter your pooch into one of the competitions.
Queensland
October 18 to 19, Winders Park, Duringan Street, Currumbin
Gold Coast’s newest music and cultural event is going to be fun for the whole family. The singers, acrobats, drummers, hula dancers will engage the adults while the kids will be entertained with arts, craft and music. The pooch will enjoy the festivities relaxing in the “Doggy Day Bed Zone”.
