Prince’s first wife speaks on artist’s passing

Prince’s first wife, who is the inspiration to the song, The Most Beautiful Girl In the World, has released a statement following the singer’s sudden death.

Mayte Garcia told People magazine she was devastated to lose the man who was her “everything”.

Ms Garcia said, "I can't even think of the words of what I'm feeling. This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated."

In 1996 Ms Garcia and the legendary artist lost their son Gregory a week after he was born with a rare genetic disorder affecting his skull.

Ms Garcia said, "I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now."
