Hungry sea lion pup spends night in restaurant

Workers at an upmarket San Diego restaurant in the California got a shock when they opened their doors on Thursday morning last week. Inside the restaurant, already seated at a booth, was a hungry and disgruntled sea lion pup waiting for service.

The pup appears to have wandered into the restaurant through a door left open by the cleaning crew. The sea lion, who appeared to malnourished and searching for food, had been sitting in the booth all night. It was rescued by SeaWorld staff, who said the animals had been seeking higher ground due to recent weather events. They hope to nurse the lion back to health and return it to the wild.
